How do you choose from 250 real estate agents in the greater Durango area? Good question! I suggest you choose a realtor the same way you'd choose a lawyer to represent you in a serious lawsuit.
- First, you choose the best real estate brand in the world...and that's RE/MAX. No one sells more real estate than RE/MAX!

- Second, you choose a realtor who is experienced, intelligent, knowledgeable, trustworthy, a good communicator, and above all, capable of providing you with the best possible representation. I believe I meet all those requirements!
Third, you choose a realtor with the training and education to serve you best. I received my Colorado real estate license in 2003. I earned my Accredited Buyers Representive (ABR) designation from the National Association of Realtors and currently hold an Employing Broker License from the State of Colorado. I earned my Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) designation in 2011. Approximately 55% of real estate sales in 2010 were distressed properties. Whether you're buying or selling, you really need an expert.
With my ABR, I focus on representing buyers who appreciate dedicated and exclusive representation throughout the entire process of locating the right property and progressing through closing in the most professional and advantageousl manner possible. Much of my business is through referrals from clients I've represented, and from other brokers.
With my CDPE, I assist homeowners experiencing financial hardships and do my utmost to help them from losing their home to foreclosure. They are facing one of the most stressful and emotional periods of their life. We are specially trained to expose them to viable options and help navigate them through a very complex process.
Real estate is my second career. I retired from the corporate world in 2001 and relocated to Durango with my lovely wife, Angie, and young son, Erik. Erik is  now in college. Angie's expertise is on-site sales and marketing for major real estate developers. A former licensed agent in New Hampshire, she has worked on and consulted for numerous large developments in New Hampshire and Southwest Colorado. We're proud co-owners of RE/MAX Pinnacle!
My background is hi-tech, having served over 30 years in sales, marketing, corporate- and marketing communications, international business development and general management. I'm a pioneer in the field of bar code data collection, and served as president of the industry's trade association. I am the first recipient of the industry's highest award, The Richard R. Dilling Award, presented annually to an industry member who made outstanding contributions to the success and growth of the industry. I've spent a great amount of time doing business in Europe, and worked for many years as President of a Swedish-owned company in California. I've also served on two corporate boards.
 I'm a strong advocate for veterans. I served as Colorado State Commandant, Marine Corps League for two terms and one term as a National Officer. In 2004, I was named the Colorado Marine-of-the-Year. I've also received three Silver Distinguished Service Medals from the Marine Corps League.
I have exceptional experience dealing with area builders and developers. I was honored by the SW Colorado Association of Home Builders for my contributions to that organization. Angie and I also built and sold a high-end spec home at Vallecito Lake and served as our own general contractors. We know virtually all the respectable builders and subcontractors in the area. That knowledge, I can assure, can be priceless!!!
I believe in participating in community activities. I served as a ski instructor and board member for the Adaptive Sports Association of Durango. I was the Marine Toys for Tots Coordinator for SW Colorado, and served as Chairman of The United Veterans  Council and Event Chairman of the Vietnam Moving Wall visit to Durango. I've also been a volunteer fundraiser for the Durango Arts Center. (Please visit my blog to read articles I've written visiting and living in Durango.)
